"Upāli, endowed with five factors one who causes schism in the Saṅgha is bound for the plane of misery, bound for hell, remaining there for an eon, incurable. With which five? Here, Upāli, a bhikkhu explains what is not Dhamma as 'Dhamma'; explains Dhamma as 'not Dhamma'; explains what is not Vinaya as 'Vinaya'; explains Vinaya as 'not Vinaya'; misrepresenting his view, by means of a formal act (kamma). Endowed with these five factors, Upāli, one who causes schism in the Saṅgha is bound for the plane of misery, bound for hell, remaining there for an eon, incurable.
"Endowed with five further factors also, Upāli, one who causes schism in the Saṅgha is bound for the plane of misery, bound for hell, remaining there for an eon, incurable. With which five?
