[1289] "How many offenses entailing defeat (pārājika) were declared by the Buddha, Kinsman of the Sun (ādiccabandhu)? Of you who profess the Vinaya we would hear the ranges (visaya) thereof." "Eight offenses entailing defeat were declared by the Buddha, Kinsman of the Sun. Of me who profess the Vinaya, hear the ranges thereof."
