[658] "Lady (ayye), what will that man do to you, whether he is lustful (avassuta) or not lustful, since you are not lustful? Come, lady, whatever hard food or soft food that man gives you, receive it with your own hand and chew it or eat it" — [a bhikkhunī] urging thus incurs three offenses (āpatti): when [the other], at her word, accepts it thinking, "I shall chew it, I shall eat it," there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa); for every mouthful swallowed, an offense of grave transgression (thullaccaya); at the conclusion of the meal, an offense entailing a formal meeting of the Saṅgha (saṅghādisesa).
