[952] The taints (āsava) grow for two persons: one who has scruples (kukkucca) about what is not an object for scruple, and one who has no scruples about what is an object for scruple. The taints do not grow for two persons: one who has no scruples about what is not an object for scruple, and one who has scruples about what is an object for scruple.
The taints grow for two further persons: one who perceives what is unallowable (akappiya) as allowable (kappiya), and one who perceives what is allowable as unallowable. The taints do not grow for two persons: one who perceives what is unallowable as unallowable, and one who perceives what is allowable as allowable.
The taints grow for two further persons: one who perceives a non-offense (anāpatti) as an offense (āpatti), and one who perceives an offense as a non-offense. The taints do not grow for two persons: one who perceives a non-offense as a non-offense, and one who perceives an offense as an offense.
The taints grow for two further persons: one who perceives what is not-Dhamma as Dhamma, and one who perceives what is Dhamma as not-Dhamma. The taints do not grow for two persons: one who perceives what is not-Dhamma as not-Dhamma, and one who perceives what is Dhamma as Dhamma.
The taints grow for two further persons: one who perceives what is not-Vinaya as Vinaya, and one who perceives what is Vinaya as not-Vinaya. The taints do not grow for two persons: one who perceives what is not-Vinaya as not-Vinaya, and one who perceives what is Vinaya as Vinaya.
