[959] There are three suspensions of the Pātimokkha (pātimokkhaṭṭhapana) that are not in accordance with the Dhamma. There are three suspensions of the Pātimokkha that are in accordance with the Dhamma. There are three probations (parivāsa): probation for a concealed offense (paṭicchannaparivāsa), probation for an unconcealed offense (appaṭicchannaparivāsa), and probation of complete purity (suddhantaparivāsa). There are three penances (mānatta): penance for a concealed offense, penance for an unconcealed offense, and half-month penance (pakkhamānatta). There are three interruptions of the nights (ratticcheda) for a bhikkhu undergoing probation: dwelling together, dwelling apart, and not informing.
