[113] Or whereas some honored ascetics and brahmins, while eating food given in faith, are tricksters and flatterers, hinters and belittlers,¹ and pursuers of gain with gain — and so forth² — he refrains from such trickery and flattery. This too pertains to his ethics (sīla). The Middle Section on Ethics is concluded.³ ¹ Sinhalese edition reads: *nimittakā ca nippesikā ca*. ² Sinhalese edition: the words *iti vā* are absent. ³ Sinhalese edition: the words *Majjhimasīlaṃ niṭṭhitaṃ* are likewise absent.
