[165] "Furthermore, Ambaṭṭha, some ascetic or brahmin here, not attaining this unsurpassed accomplishment in true knowledge (vijjā) and conduct (caraṇa), and not managing to subsist on fallen fruit, and not managing to subsist on tubers, roots, and fruits, builds a fire chamber in the vicinity of a village or a town and dwells there tending the sacred fire. He succeeds, in fact, only in becoming an attendant of one accomplished in true knowledge and conduct. This, Ambaṭṭha, is the third cause of loss (apāyamukha) with respect to this unsurpassed accomplishment in true knowledge and conduct."
