[227] And in that sacrifice, brahmin, no cows were slain, no goats and sheep were slain, no fowl and pigs were slain, no various living creatures came to slaughter; no trees were cut down for the sacrificial post, and no dabba-grasses were mown for the purpose of injury. And those who were his slaves, or messengers, or workers — they too were not threatened with punishment, not threatened with fear, and did not perform their tasks weeping with tearful faces. Rather, those who wished to work did so; those who did not wish did not. What they wished to do, that they did; what they did not wish to do, that they did not do. And that sacrifice was brought to completion with just ghee, oil, fresh butter, curds, honey, and molasses.
