[254] "Venerable sir, is there a path (magga), is there a way of practice (paṭipadā), for the realization of these dhammas?"
"There is, Mahāli, a path; there is a way of practice for the realization of these dhammas."
"But what, venerable sir, is the path, what is the way of practice, for the realization of these dhammas?"
"It is just this noble eightfold path, namely: right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration (samādhi). This, Mahāli, is the path, this is the way of practice, for the realization of these dhammas."
