[280] "Furthermore, Poṭṭhapāda, with the subsiding of applied and sustained thought (vitakka-vicāra), a bhikkhu enters and dwells in the second jhāna, which has internal serenity and unification of mind (citta), is without applied thought and without sustained thought, and has rapture and bliss born of concentration (samādhi). His former subtle and true perception of the rapture and bliss born of seclusion ceases; at that time there is a subtle and true perception of the rapture and bliss born of concentration; at that time he is percipient only of the subtle and true perception of the rapture and bliss born of concentration. Thus with training one perception arises, and with training one perception ceases. This too is that training," said the Blessed One.
