[281] "Furthermore, Poṭṭhapāda, with the fading away of rapture (pīti), a bhikkhu dwells equanimous, mindful (sata) and clearly comprehending (sampajāna), and he experiences pleasure with the body; he enters and dwells in the third jhāna, of which the noble ones declare: 'Equanimous and mindful, he dwells in pleasure.' His former subtle and true perception of the rapture and pleasure born of concentration (samādhijapītisukhasukhumasaccasaññā) ceases; on that occasion there is a subtle and true perception of the pleasure accompanied by equanimity (upekkhā), and on that occasion he is percipient only of that subtle and true pleasure accompanied by equanimity. Thus with training (sikkhā) one perception arises, and with training one perception ceases. This too is that training," said the Blessed One.
