[290] "Bhante, I believe in a self (attā) that is mind-made (manomaya), complete in all its major and minor limbs, not deficient in any faculty (indriya)."
"Poṭṭhapāda, even if your self were mind-made, complete in all its major and minor limbs, not deficient in any faculty — even so, Poṭṭhapāda, your perception (saññā) would be one thing and the self another. By this line of reasoning too, Poṭṭhapāda, it may be understood how perception will be one thing and the self another. Even while that mind-made self remains, complete in all its major and minor limbs, not deficient in any faculty, still one perception arises in this person and another perception ceases. By this line of reasoning too, Poṭṭhapāda, it may be understood how perception will be one thing and the self another."
