[298] "And what, Poṭṭhapāda, are the dhammas that have been taught and declared by me as categorical (ekaṃsika)? 'This is suffering (dukkha)' — this, Poṭṭhapāda, is a dhamma taught and declared by me as categorical. 'This is the origin of suffering' — this, Poṭṭhapāda, is a dhamma taught and declared by me as categorical. 'This is the cessation of suffering' — this, Poṭṭhapāda, is a dhamma taught and declared by me as categorical. 'This is the practice leading to the cessation of suffering' — this, Poṭṭhapāda, is a dhamma taught and declared by me as categorical.
And why, Poṭṭhapāda, have these dhammas been taught and declared by me as categorical? These, Poṭṭhapāda, are connected with the goal, connected with the Dhamma; they are fundamental to the holy life; they lead to disenchantment, to dispassion, to cessation, to peace, to direct knowledge, to full awakening, to Nibbāna. Therefore these dhammas have been taught and declared by me as categorical."
