[351] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One, while wandering on tour in the Kosala country together with a great Saṅgha of bhikkhus, some five hundred bhikkhus, arrived at Sālavatikā. Now at that time the brahmin Lohicca was dwelling in Sālavatikā — a place teeming with living beings, abounding in grass, timber, and water, rich in grain, a royal domain granted by King Pasenadi of Kosala as a royal gift, a brahmin's endowment (brahmadeyya).
