[144] Now at that time a certain bhikkhu, having stolen a robe in a dwelling (vihāra), thinking, "Going out from here, I shall be one defeated (pārājika)," did not go out from the dwelling. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, whether that foolish man (moghapurisa) should go out or should not go out, there is an offense (āpatti) entailing defeat (pārājika)."
