[165] Now at that time, visiting bhikkhus (āgantukā bhikkhū) had the Saṅgha's mangoes distributed and ate them. The resident bhikkhus (āvāsikā bhikkhū) accused those bhikkhus: "You are not ascetics (samaṇa)!" They were remorseful. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "What was your intention, bhikkhus?" "It was for the purpose of eating, Blessed One." "There is no offense (anāpatti), bhikkhus, when it is for the purpose of eating."
Now at that time, visiting bhikkhus had the Saṅgha's rose-apples (jambu) … the Saṅgha's breadfruit (labuja) … the Saṅgha's jackfruit (panasa) … the Saṅgha's ripe palmyra fruit (tālapakka) … the Saṅgha's sugar-cane … the Saṅgha's timbarūsaka fruit distributed and ate them. The resident bhikkhus accused those bhikkhus: "You are not ascetics!" They were remorseful. … "There is no offense, bhikkhus, when it is for the purpose of eating."
