[146] Now at that time several bhikkhus were making robes. While the chewable food (khādanīya) belonging to the Saṅgha was being distributed, the portions of all had been brought and set aside. A certain bhikkhu, thinking another bhikkhu's portion to be his own, consumed it. The other, having found out, accused him: "You are not an ascetic." He was remorseful … "Bhikkhu, there is no offence (āpatti) for one who perceives it as his own."¹
