[157] Now at that time a certain cowherd, having hung his cloth (sāṭaka) on a tree, went to defecate. A certain bhikkhu, perceiving it as a discarded rag (paṃsukūla), took it. Then that cowherd accused that bhikkhu: "You are no ascetic!" He was remorseful. … "There is no offense (anāpatti), bhikkhu, for one who perceives it as a discarded rag."
