**"Human being" (manussaviggaha):** from when the first mind (citta) has arisen, the first consciousness (viññāṇa) has become manifest in the mother's womb, up until the time of death — that which is within this interval is called a "human being."
**"Should deprive of life" (jīvitā voropeyya):** he cuts off the life faculty (jīvitindriya), brings it to a stop, disrupts its continuity.
