[371] Now at that time, as a certain bhikkhu was running in a lotus grove, semen was emitted. He became remorseful… [Pali elides: he reported the matter to the Blessed One; the Blessed One questioned him] … "Bhikkhu, there is no offense (anāpatti) for one who does not have the intention of causing emission." Now at that time, as a certain bhikkhu who had the intention of causing emission was running in a lotus grove, semen was emitted … [Pali elides the intervening exchange and the ruling for this sub-case — by the standard pattern, an offense entailing saṅghādisesa — together with the opening of the next sub-case, in which] … semen was not emitted.
