SaṅghādisesakaṇḍaSaṅghādisessikkhāpada

[436] A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, and say to the woman of such-and-such a name who is guarded by her father, and to the one guarded by her mother and father: 'It is said that you are to be the wives of the man of such-and-such a name, bought with money (dhanakkītā).'" He accepts, he inquires, and he reports back: an offense entailing saṅghādisesa. A man sends a bhikkhu, saying: "Go, venerable sir, [and say to] the woman of such-and-such a name who is guarded by her father, and to the one guarded by her brother …" — to the one guarded by her father, and to the one guarded by her sister … — to the one guarded by her father, and to the one guarded by her relatives … — to the one guarded by her father, and to the one guarded by her clan … — to the one guarded by her father, and to the one guarded by dhamma … — to the one guarded by her father, and to the one under protection [of a husband] (sārakkhā) … — "[say to] the one guarded by her father, and to the one protected under threat of punishment (saparidaṇḍā): 'It is said that you are to be the wives of the man of such-and-such a name, bought with money.'" He accepts, he inquires, and he reports back: an offense entailing saṅghādisesa.
