[56] Now at that time the female sex-characteristic appeared in a certain bhikkhu. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow that very same preceptor (upajjhā), that very same full ordination (upasampadā), and those same rains (vassa) to be transferred over to the bhikkhunīs. Whatever offences (āpatti) of bhikkhus are held in common with the bhikkhunīs, I allow those offences to be cleared in the presence of the bhikkhunīs; whatever offences of bhikkhus are not held in common with the bhikkhunīs — with regard to those offences there is no offence."
Now at that time the male sex-characteristic appeared in a certain bhikkhunī. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhus, I allow that very same preceptor, that very same full ordination, and those same rains to be transferred over to the bhikkhus. Whatever offences of bhikkhunīs are held in common with the bhikkhus, I allow those offences to be cleared in the presence of the bhikkhus; whatever offences of bhikkhunīs are not held in common with the bhikkhus — with regard to those offences there is no offence."
