[564] A person is pure, not having committed any offense entailing expulsion (pārājika). If, perceiving him as pure, one speaks with the intention of making him fall away [from the holy life] without having had leave (okāsa) granted, there is an offense of wrongdoing (dukkaṭa) together with the saṅghādisesa. A person is pure, not having committed any offense entailing expulsion. If, perceiving him as pure, one speaks with the intention of making him fall away, having had leave granted, there is an offense of saṅghādisesa. A person is pure, not having committed any offense entailing expulsion. If, perceiving him as pure, one speaks with the intention of abusing him without having had leave granted, there is an offense of wrongdoing together with [the offense of] insulting speech (omasavāda). A person is pure, not having committed any offense entailing expulsion. If, perceiving him as pure, one speaks with the intention of abusing him, having had leave granted, there is an offense of insulting speech.
