[124] Therein, Cunda, as for those ascetics and brahmins who hold such a doctrine, such a view — 'The self and the world are eternal; this alone is true, anything else is vain' — I approach them and say thus: 'Friends, is this indeed said by you: "The self and the world are eternal"?' And as for what they say thus: 'This alone is true, anything else is vain' — that I do not concede to them. Why is that? Because, Cunda, there are some beings here who perceive otherwise on this point. Even with respect to this designation (paññatti), Cunda, I do not see anyone equal to myself, let alone superior. Rather, it is I alone who am superior therein, that is, in the higher designation (adhipaññatti).
