[178] What are the six channels for the dissipation of wealth (apāyamukha) that he does not pursue? Habitual indulgence in intoxicating drink — liquor and fermented drink, which are a basis for heedlessness (surāmeraya-majja-pamādaṭṭhāna) — householder's son, is a channel for the dissipation of wealth; habitual roaming the streets at untimely hours is a channel for the dissipation of wealth; frequenting shows and festivals is a channel for the dissipation of wealth; habitual indulgence in gambling, which is a basis for heedlessness, is a channel for the dissipation of wealth; habitual association with evil friends is a channel for the dissipation of wealth; habitual indulgence in laziness is a channel for the dissipation of wealth.
