[203] Householder's son, in five ways should bondservants and workers, as the lower quarter, be ministered to by a master: by assigning work according to their strength, by providing food and wages, by attending to them in sickness, by sharing with them delicacies of extraordinary flavor, and by releasing them at appropriate times.
Householder's son, bondservants and workers, as the lower quarter, being thus ministered to by a master in these five ways, show compassion to the master in five ways: they rise before him, they retire after him, they take only what is given, they do their work well, and they carry abroad his praise and good repute.
