[231] Four bases of psychic power (iddhipāda): Here, friends, a bhikkhu develops the basis of psychic power endowed with concentration (samādhi) due to desire (chanda) and the volitional formations of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra); he develops the basis of psychic power endowed with concentration due to energy (vīriya) and the volitional formations of striving; he develops the basis of psychic power endowed with concentration due to mind (citta) and the volitional formations of striving; he develops the basis of psychic power endowed with concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and the volitional formations of striving.
