[505] The four bases for success (iddhipāda): Here a bhikkhu develops the basis for success endowed with concentration (samādhi) due to zeal (chanda) and volitional formations of striving (padhāna-saṅkhāra); he develops the basis for success endowed with concentration due to energy (vīriya) and volitional formations of striving; he develops the basis for success endowed with concentration due to mind (citta) and volitional formations of striving; he develops the basis for success endowed with concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and volitional formations of striving.
