[536] The four bases for success (iddhipāda): Here a bhikkhu develops the basis for success endowed with concentration (samādhi) due to zeal (chanda) and volitional formations of striving (padhāna-saṅkhāra); concentration due to energy (vīriya) … concentration due to mind (citta) … he develops the basis for success endowed with concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and volitional formations of striving.
Of the four bases for success, how many are wholesome (kusala), how many unwholesome (akusala), how many indeterminate (abyākata)? … How many are connected with conflict (saraṇa), how many without conflict (araṇa)?
