[291] Five benefits (ānisaṃsa) for a virtuous person through the accomplishment of virtue (sīla-sampadā): 1. Friends, here a virtuous person, accomplished in virtue (sīla), obtains a great mass of wealth on account of diligence (appamāda). This is the first benefit for a virtuous person through the accomplishment of virtue. 2. Furthermore, friends, a good report of the fame of a virtuous person, accomplished in virtue, spreads abroad. This is the second benefit for a virtuous person through the accomplishment of virtue. 3. Furthermore, friends, a virtuous person, accomplished in virtue, approaches whatever assembly he approaches — whether an assembly of khattiyas, an assembly of brahmins, an assembly of householders, or an assembly of ascetics — confident and unabashed. This is the third benefit for a virtuous person through the accomplishment of virtue. 4. Furthermore, friends, a virtuous person, accomplished in virtue, dies unconfused. This is the fourth benefit for a virtuous person through the accomplishment of virtue. 5. Furthermore, friends, a virtuous person, accomplished in virtue, with the breaking up of the body, after death, is reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world. This is the fifth benefit for a virtuous person through the accomplishment of virtue.
