[436] What seven dhammas should be given up? The seven underlying tendencies (anusaya): the underlying tendency of sensual lust (kāmarāgānusaya), the underlying tendency of aversion (paṭighānusaya), the underlying tendency of views (diṭṭhānusaya), the underlying tendency of doubt (vicikicchānusaya), the underlying tendency of conceit (mānānusaya), the underlying tendency of lust for existence (bhavarāgānusaya), and the underlying tendency of ignorance (avijjānusaya).
