[460] What nine dhammas conduce to distinction (visesabhāgiyā)? Nine ways of dispelling resentment (āghātapaṭivinayā). Thinking, 'He has done me harm — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment. Thinking, 'He is doing me harm — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment. Thinking, 'He will do me harm — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment. Thinking, 'He has done harm to one who is dear and agreeable to me — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment. Thinking, 'He is doing harm to one who is dear and agreeable to me — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment. Thinking, 'He will do harm to one who is dear and agreeable to me — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment. Thinking, 'He has done good to one who is not dear and disagreeable to me — but how could that be helped here?' one dispels resentment.
