[188] Sāriputta, there are some ascetics and brahmins who hold such a doctrine, such a view: "Purity comes about through rebirth (upapatti)." But, Sāriputta, it is not easy to find a rebirth that I have not previously undergone in this long course of time, except among the gods of the Pure Abodes (Suddhāvāsa); for if I were to be reborn among the gods of the Pure Abodes, Sāriputta, I would not come back to this world again.
