[563] "Then, Evil One, the Blessed One Kakusandha, the Arahant, the Perfectly Awakened One, addressed the bhikkhus: 'Bhikkhus, the brahmins and householders have been possessed by Māra Dūsī, [who incites them:] "Come, honor, respect, esteem, and venerate the bhikkhus who are virtuous and of good character; perhaps, while they are being honored, respected, esteemed, and venerated by you, there may be an alteration of their minds (citta), whereby Māra Dūsī may find an opening." Come, bhikkhus, dwell contemplating the unattractiveness (asubha) of the body, perceiving the repulsiveness of food, perceiving non-delight in the entire world, contemplating impermanence in all formations (saṅkhārā).' Then, Evil One, those bhikkhus, being thus exhorted and thus instructed by the Blessed One Kakusandha, the Arahant, the Perfectly Awakened One, having gone to the forest, or to the root of a tree, or to an empty dwelling, dwelt contemplating the unattractiveness of the body, perceiving the repulsiveness of food, perceiving non-delight in the entire world, contemplating impermanence in all formations."
