[57] "It is possible, friend, that some bhikkhu here might have a wish arise thus: 'Oh, should I commit an offense (āpatti), may the bhikkhus not know of me, "He has committed an offense."' But it is possible, friend, that the bhikkhus might come to know of that bhikkhu, 'He has committed an offense.' Thinking, 'The bhikkhus know of me that I have committed an offense,' he becomes angry and bitter. Friend, both that anger and that bitterness are a blemish (aṅgaṇa)."
