[58] It is possible (ṭhānaṃ kho panetaṃ vijjati), friends, that some bhikkhu here might conceive a wish thus: 'If indeed I should commit an offense (āpatti), may the bhikkhus accuse me in private, not in the midst of the Saṅgha.' And it is possible, friends, that the bhikkhus accuse that bhikkhu in the midst of the Saṅgha, not in private. Thinking, 'The bhikkhus are accusing me in the midst of the Saṅgha, not in private,' he becomes angry and displeased. Friends, both that anger (kopa) and that displeasure (appaccaya) are a blemish (aṅgaṇa).
