[141] "Rāhula, develop the meditation (bhāvanā) that is like water. For when you develop the meditation that is like water, Rāhula, agreeable and disagreeable contacts (phassa) that have arisen will not persist occupying your mind (citta). Just as, Rāhula, people wash clean things in water, and they wash unclean things, they wash excrement, they wash urine, they wash spittle, they wash pus, and they wash blood, and yet the water is not distressed, humiliated, or disgusted by that — even so, Rāhula, develop the meditation that is like water. For when you develop the meditation that is like water, Rāhula, agreeable and disagreeable contacts that have arisen will not persist occupying your mind."
