[142] "Rāhula, develop meditation (bhāvanā) that is like fire. For, Rāhula, when you develop meditation that is like fire, agreeable and disagreeable contacts (phassa) that have arisen will not persist overpowering your mind (citta). Just as, Rāhula, fire burns clean things and burns unclean things — it burns feces, burns urine, burns spittle, burns pus, and burns blood — and the fire is not horrified, repelled, or disgusted on that account; even so, Rāhula, develop meditation that is like fire. For, Rāhula, when you develop meditation that is like fire, agreeable and disagreeable contacts that have arisen will not persist overpowering your mind."
