[222] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was wandering on tour in the Kāsi country together with a large Saṅgha of bhikkhus. There the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, I eat abstaining entirely from the night meal; and eating thus, abstaining from the night meal, I perceive little affliction, little illness, lightness, strength, and a comfortable abiding. Come, bhikkhus, you too eat abstaining entirely from the night meal; and eating thus, abstaining from the night meal, you too will perceive little affliction, little illness, lightness, strength, and a comfortable abiding."
"So it is, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One.
