[335] Furthermore, Udāyī, I have declared to my disciples the way of practice (paṭipadā), practicing in accordance with which my disciples develop the four bases of spiritual power (iddhipāda). Here, Udāyī, a bhikkhu develops the basis of spiritual power endowed with concentration (samādhi) due to desire (chanda) and volitional formations (saṅkhārā) of striving (padhānasaṅkhāra); he develops the basis of spiritual power endowed with concentration due to energy (vīriya) and volitional formations of striving; he develops the basis of spiritual power endowed with concentration due to mind (citta) and volitional formations of striving; he develops the basis of spiritual power endowed with concentration due to investigation (vīmaṃsā) and volitional formations of striving. And therein many of my disciples dwell having attained the consummation and perfection of direct knowledge (abhiññāvosānapāramippattā).
