Suppose there were a beryl gem — beautiful, lustrous, eight-faceted, well-worked — placed upon a pale-orange woolen cloth (paṇḍukambala), and it were to shine, to glow, and to radiate; or a firefly in the blinding darkness of night: of these two splendors, which splendor is the more excellent and the more sublime?"
