[419] "Great king, at one time I was dwelling right there at the market town named Vebhaḷiga. Then, great king, in the morning, having dressed and taking bowl and robe, I approached the parents of Ghaṭikāra the potter; having approached, I said this to the parents of Ghaṭikāra the potter: 'Well now, where has this Bhaggava gone?' 'Venerable sir, your supporter has gone out. Take porridge from this basket and sauce from this pan and eat.' Then, great king, I took porridge from the basket and sauce from the pan, ate, rose from my seat, and departed. Then, great king, Ghaṭikāra the potter approached his parents; having approached, he said this to his parents: 'Who took porridge from the basket and sauce from the pan, ate, and, rising from the seat, departed?' 'Dear one, it was the Blessed One Kassapa, the Arahant, the Perfectly Self-Awakened One, who took porridge from the basket and sauce from the pan, ate, and, rising from the seat, departed.' Then, great king, this occurred to Ghaṭikāra the potter: 'It is a gain for me indeed, it is well gained by me indeed, that the Blessed One Kassapa, the Arahant, the Perfectly Self-Awakened One, is so intimately trusting toward me.' Then, great king, rapture (pīti) and happiness did not leave Ghaṭikāra the potter for a fortnight, nor his parents for seven days."
