[571] Thus have I heard:
On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Udaññā, in the Deer Park at Kaṇṇakatthala. Now on that occasion King Pasenadi of Kosala had arrived at Udaññā on some business or other. Then King Pasenadi of Kosala addressed a certain man: "Come, good man, go to the Blessed One, and having approached, pay homage in my name with your head at the Blessed One's feet, and ask whether he is free from affliction, free from illness, of light and buoyant health, strong, and dwelling in comfort, saying: 'Venerable sir, King Pasenadi of Kosala pays homage with his head at the Blessed One's feet, and asks whether the Blessed One is free from affliction, free from illness, of light and buoyant health, strong, and dwelling in comfort.' And say this also: 'Venerable sir, today, it is said, after his meal, having finished his morning meal, King Pasenadi of Kosala will come to see the Blessed One.'"
"Even so, Your Majesty," that man replied in assent to King Pasenadi of Kosala, and he went to the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down at one side. Sitting at one side, that man said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, King Pasenadi of Kosala pays homage with his head at the Blessed One's feet, and asks whether the Blessed One is free from affliction, free from illness, of light and buoyant health, strong, and dwelling in comfort. And he says this: 'Venerable sir, today, it is said, after his meal, having finished his morning meal, King Pasenadi of Kosala will come to see the Blessed One.'"
