[624] "What do you think, Assalāyana? Suppose here a brahmin youth were to cohabit with a khattiya maiden, and in consequence of their cohabitation a son were born. Would that son, born to the khattiya maiden by the brahmin youth—being similar to the mother and similar to the father—be fit to be called both a khattiya and a brahmin?"
"Worthy Gotama, the son born to the khattiya maiden by the brahmin youth would be similar to the mother and similar to the father; he would be fit to be called both a khattiya and a brahmin."
