[106] When he was seated to one side, the brahmin Gopakamoggallāna said this to the Venerable Ānanda: "Worthy Ānanda, is there even a single bhikkhu who is endowed in each and every respect, in each and every way, with those qualities (dhammā) with which the worthy Gotama, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One, was endowed?"
"There is not, brahmin, even a single bhikkhu who is endowed in each and every respect, in each and every way, with those qualities with which the Blessed One, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One, was endowed. For, brahmin, the Blessed One was the arouser of the unarisen path (magga), the begetter of the unborn path, the declarer of the undeclared path; he was the knower of the path, the discoverer of the path, the one skilled in the path. And his disciples now abide following that path, becoming endowed with it afterwards."
But this conversation between the Venerable Ānanda and the brahmin Gopakamoggallāna was left unfinished.
