[140] And how, bhikkhus, does an untrue person (asappurisa) give the gift (dāna) of an untrue person? Here, bhikkhus, an untrue person gives a gift carelessly, gives a gift not with his own hand, gives a gift without showing esteem, gives a gift that is fit to be discarded, and gives a gift as one who holds the view that no result will come back. Thus indeed, bhikkhus, does an untrue person give the gift of an untrue person.
