Suttapiṭaka · Majjhimanikāya · Vol. 14 · Section 213

[213] "Venerable sir, when one cultivates what kind of acquisition of perception (saññāpaṭilābha) do unwholesome qualities increase and wholesome qualities decline? Here, venerable sir, a certain person is covetous (abhijjhālu), and dwells with a perception accompanied by covetousness; he bears ill will (byāpāda), and dwells with a perception accompanied by ill will; he is given to harming (vihesā), and dwells with a perception accompanied by harming. Venerable sir, when one cultivates such an acquisition of perception, unwholesome qualities increase and wholesome qualities decline."
