[212] "'Bhikkhus, the acquisition of perception (saññāpaṭilābha), too, I say, is of two kinds: that which should be cultivated and that which should not be cultivated; and the one is an acquisition of perception different from the other' — thus indeed was this said by the Blessed One. And with reference to what was this said?
Venerable sir, such an acquisition of perception as causes, in one who cultivates it, unwholesome states (akusalā dhammā) to increase and wholesome states (kusalā dhammā) to diminish — an acquisition of perception of such a kind should not be cultivated. But such an acquisition of perception as causes, in one who cultivates it, unwholesome states to diminish and wholesome states to increase — an acquisition of perception of such a kind should be cultivated."
