[241] "But, venerable sir, could there be another way in which a bhikkhu might fittingly be called 'skilled in the elements (dhātu)'?"
"There could, Ānanda. There are, Ānanda, these three elements: the sensual element (kāmadhātu), the form element (rūpadhātu), and the formless element (arūpadhātu). When, Ānanda, a bhikkhu knows and sees these three elements, to that extent too, Ānanda, he may fittingly be called a bhikkhu skilled in the elements."
