[266] And what, bhikkhus, is right speech (sammāvācā)? Right speech, bhikkhus, I say is twofold: there is, bhikkhus, right speech that is accompanied by taints (āsava), partaking of merit, ripening in acquisitions (upadhi); and there is, bhikkhus, right speech that is noble, taintless, supramundane, a factor of the path.
